Ok so I got two pics. He’s gonna post more tomorrow once he gets them out from behind the building understandably they’re rough. One looks to have some major body rust near the bottom edge. Will be updating as I find out more.

Nice! Are these in Ohio? Remember, a roll cage is a suitable replacement for a rusty chassis.

Is the rusty one a WV car? Good driving roads there. I feel like since they don't salt, if there's surface rust, there's gotta be structural rust.

Trust me I’m really excited about the prospect.

That’s visible at the front of the sills, and the SW20s tend to go from the inside-out, so it’s going to be absolutely fucked around the rear of the sills where they join the arches (and the inner layers where it joins the base of the B-pillar to the inner sill
are probably totally fucked up too), probably the rear inner arches themselves too.
The points to check are inside the car, behind the seats there’s some plastic panels under the rear side windows. Pop those off and there’s a piece of foam sound-deadening that tends to absorb moisture, sag to the bottom, and rot it out from the inside. Pull that out and see if it looks rust-coloured, and have a nose around to see what state things are in down in there.
Other than that, poke the inner of the rear arches, especially at the front and rear. Also, if you peel back the carpet in the boot you can see into the arches and there’s a little dip in the bottom corner which should help you see if the arches are a mess.
Also check beneath the spare wheel, and under the T-top seals.
There are pattern parts available for the sills these days, but it’ll be a shitload of work. Great project, though!

Keep us updated, I had MR2's for close to 10 years when I sold my last one.

I just can’t imagine these being in reasonable condition, either inside or out. Good luck sir
